As part of its efforts to modernise and support users, the Traffic Documents Department, in collaboration with the Extended Monaco programme, is offering new access to its procedures for residents of the Principality and foreigners wishing to settle in Monaco.
From now on, anyone holding a foreign driving licence who is moving to the Principality can apply for a Monegasque driving licence to be issued via MonGuichet.mc, the Government and Monaco City Council’s portal for online procedures.
Users who hold a valid foreign driving licence recognised by the Principality of Monaco (see the table of countries that can be exchanged) must apply to the Traffic Documents Department to have their licence exchanged within one year of settling in the Principality, i.e. until the end of the validity of their first residence permit.
With their residence permit, residents benefit from digital identity and highly secure access to the portal via the MConnect service, where they can carry out this procedure.
“Every year, more than 700 foreign driving licences are exchanged for Monegasque driving licences. This new teleservice makes it easier for users to complete the process. Following a guided tour, they will be able to enter all the relevant information and download a list of the documents they need to provide. Once the application has been accepted, the only requirement will be to go to the Traffic Documents Department to physically exchange their driving licence. “says Aurélie Péri, Head of Department.
